David Litwin
Principal Investigator
David leads the hydrology and landscape dynamics lab at Temple. He was previously an assistant professor of instruction at Temple and a postdoctoral researcher at GFZ Helmholtz Center for Geosciences in Potsdam, Germany. He completed a Ph.D. in environmental engineering at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland and undergraduate degrees in civil engineering and music performance from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He also plays in klezmer bands across the region and can regularly be seen wheeling a double bass around Philadelphia.
Jo Martin
Visiting PhD Student
I am a PhD candidate in the department of Geological Sciences at the University of Colorado, Boulder. I am supervised by Gregory Tucker, and my research involves building and interpreting neural networks that can find subtle and complex signals in topography that can tell us about the processes and properties that shape landscapes. I obtained my MS at the University of Vermont where I worked with Puck Rombach to solve a problem in extremal graph theory. I have also worked as a cybersecurity engineer, GIS technician, and wrangled hippies in a commercial kitchen.
